Attend Decolonizing ‘Hispaniola’ 2025
July 12th and 13th in East harlem, NY
The Decolonizing 'Hispaniola' Conference is a two day gathering for Dominicans and Haitians to do the hard work of learning long-hidden histories, healing from historical trauma, and learning about social justice and activism.
Day One of this conference will guide participants to develop a deeper understanding of our shared history and a critical analysis of current events related to immigration and citizenship in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the U.S.
Day Two will focus on healing justice, and how to build the skills for empathy, communication, connection, and long-term activism and advocacy.
Register on our Eventbrite below. We offer a student scholarship and a virtual option to attend Day 01. Email is at info@inculturedco.org with any questions.

Part of the decolonizing work we do involves changing the narratives about our communities. We use social media to create a space where people can understand their history (and who is manipulating it) and how that defines their identity and worldview in the present. We also tackle the current misinformation in the media and the events shaping our Haiti and the DR. We expose people on one side of the island to the culture of people on the others so that they can humanize one another and find commonality in their triumphs and struggles. Most importantly, we create a space to build bridges where others have built barriers.
